Jingle Belles #5

Hello everyone. Wow, Monday sure rolls around fast!

We are all in cyclone preparations here in Townsville - there is a big one heading our way. It should hit on Thursday (unless is changes course), so things could get interesting :)

I made a card for the Jingle Belles challenge #5. This challenge is to use this sweet sketch from Amy.
It's a simple sketch, so I thought it would be perfect to make a card for my little niece.

The cloud paper is from A Muse and the sentiment is Hero Arts. I used my long neglected silhouette to cut out the deer. I inked around his edges with Walnut Stain distress ink, added a goggly eye, a red nose and some white spots. There is glitter along the edges of the hills, but it did not photograph very well.

Enjoy the start of your working week :)

Hello Friends

Happy Australia Day to my fellow Aussies. I hope you are enjoying your day off.

I made a card for Jingle Belles challenge #4 and am almost too late to post it. The challenge this week was to use the following colours.

I hit a blank wall with this one and it was my DH that suggested a summer santa. So here he is.

I found this image online, converted it to black and white and then printed it out, twice on white cardstock and once on the flower patterned paper. (The shirt and the hand holding the drink are both paper pieced). The grass is a stamp from Practicing Creativity and the image was coloured with my Crayola pencils. Sentiment is Hero Arts.

Thanks so much for looking.

Sunday DT Post

Hello everyone. I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Just a reminder that you still have time to enter our current challenge. Click the link on the side bar to be taken to the original post.

The DT have made some fun cards to share with you today. Full details can be found on their blogs.

Joy's card uses this cute rocket image and sentiment from A Muse. She has combined this with the Envelope pattern background stamp from Hero Arts and bakers twine from The Twinery.

Ange has also combined a number of yummy goodies on her sweet card, starting with some gorgeous gingham paper from A Muse. The sentiment is from Pure innocence, 'Presents for you' set and she has also used Lawn Fawn's 'Judy's blooms' for her flower image.

Please note that A Muse have announced that they are re-structuring their business and will not be using their current line of products for their future business, nor will they be selling to wholesalers. This means that when the current stock in the store is sold it will not be replaced.

My card today uses some fun stamps from Practicing Creativity's 'You're Dandy' set.

I paper pieced the kite using A Muse's gingham paper. I stamped the solid cloud image onto the patterned paper using white ink (which did not show up very well) and then outlined each one with a white gel pen. The sentiment was made with an old label maker. (It did not have a question mark so please forgive the bad punctuation LOL).

Thanks so much for visiting.

So Little Time!

Ahh!! Started back at work on Thursday and I am so tired, plus I have had very little time in the craft room. Amazing how quickly you get used to not having to go to work.

Anyway, I have just popped in to let you know that we now have yummy Wrinkled Ribbon in the shop.

I am so excited about this, the ribbon is absolutely beautiful, you will not be disappointed.

I will be back tomorrow with our DT post. See you then.

Two Challenges

Hello fellow bloggers. I hope you are all well.

Todays card is one I made for two challenges - Lawnscaping and Glenda's 100th challenge celebration.

Lawnscaping's challenge was to CASE Kelly-Marie - fun challenge! I went right back to one of her first ever blog posts and found this card.

I hadn't used Critters in the Sea for a while and thought it would make a cute valentines card. I paired it with a sentiment from Sophie's Sentiments. I based the layout on a sketch from Lucy's blog.

Glenda's challenge is to use red on your card, so I used a red notecard from Hero arts and of course the red hearts :)

Thanks so much for looking. Enjoy your day.

Playing With Acrylic Paint

Happy Monday everyone.

The latest challenge at Jingle Belles is 'use, practice, create... and jingle!' with acrylic paint. I haven't used acrylic paints on a card before, but I enjoyed playing. Here's what I came up with.

I only have this one acrylic paint from Heidi Swapp. I stamped the Hero Arts snowflake and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I painted the cardstock with the acrylic paint. I made the mistake of drying it with a heat gun before wiping the paint off the embossed image, so ended up having to scrape bits of paint off, LOL. Next I inked the edges with Walnut Stain distress ink, matted it, added some twine and a label and there you have it.

Thanks for looking.

Sunday Already!

I can't believe it's Sunday already - where did the week go?

On a brighter note, the DT have some lovely cards to share with you today. Lets kick it off with a beauty from Ange.

Ange has combined two sets from Lawn Fawn to make this fabulous card. The flowers are from Judy's Blooms and the wonderful sentiment is from Hello Friend. I love the way she has put the sentiment on this large tag and made it the focal point.

Elzybells are fantastic stamps and Joy has showcased this sweet image and matching sentiment to perfection with this CAS card. And I just adore the gingham paper from A Muse - so yummy and versatile. (Elzybells is no longer open, but I still have a few of their stamps in the shop).

My card today uses a beautiful ballerina stamp from A Muse, so I made a very girly card.

I made the frame myself using Spellbinders scallop rectangle die and then just cut the inside of it out. I covered it in glitter and then glossy accents. I stamped the polka dot paper with Hero Arts Old Letter Writing in Antique Linen distress ink and sponged the edges with the same ink. Added some beautiful wrinkle ribbon and a prima rose.

I am entering this card into Wee Memories challenge #39 - For The Love Of Ribbon.

Remember you still have time to enter our current challenge - you can find the link on the sidebar.

Happy crafting to you all.

One For The Boys

Hello fellow bloggers.

I hope today sees you all fit and well. My prayers go out to my fellow Queenslander's who may be affected by the flooding - be safe.

I wanted to share a quick card with you today. I have been practicing with my copics - I find colouring hard to do, does anyone else have that problem?

Anyway, here is my card.

I embossed the cardstock with Tim Holtz's brick folder after painting it with silver crackle paint. This didn't work as well as I hoped (most of the paint just squeezed out), but it did give it a very light shine - did not photograph well.

I also found a really old label maker when I was cleaning up and used that to make my sentiment.

Enjoy your day.

Jay Gee's Nook Challenge #3

Yay! I'm excited to be bringing you Jay Gee's Nook challenge #3 - the first for the New Year. I hope you will find some time to join us.

Summer is in full swing here in Australia and for most of us that means BBQ's, beach, swimming and thongs (the footwear kind, not the underwear!)

To play along, simply create a project inspired by this photograph - interpret it any way you wish. The challenge is open to everyone!

Our beautiful inspiration photo is again brought to you courtesy of Leslie from Creative Mint.

And we need a prize - so the winner will receive this beautiful stamp set from Jane's Doodles, "Jane's Bakery".

Ok, so if you have played along with the first two challenges you should know that I have an exciting guest DT joining us today - any guesses so far? Did the prize give it away?

If you guessed Jane Beljo you are right! For those of you not familiar with Jane (seriously, were have you been hiding) she is the super talented artist behind Jane's Doodles. Make sure you check out her blog and see her fabulous creations.

And as always the lovely Joy and Ange do not disappoint with their amazing creations.

Jingle Belles

Hello!

Yes, I have another Christmas card, but I promise tomorrow's post won't have any, LOL.

Jingles Belles second challenge is to use Inchies or Twinchies! Ahhhh! I found this so hard and I am not convinced I pulled this off, but thought I would post anyway :)

The polka dots are a PTI stamp and are inspired by Laurie and Cristina - love their cards. The Christmas tree is also PTI and the sentiment is from Practicing Creativity's Everyday Prints set.

Remember to stop by tomorrow for a new DT challenge post.

Have a lovely day.

Lawnscaping Challenge

Now don't hate me ladies... but I have another Christmas card to share :) and this time it's the fault of the new Lawnscaping Challenge blog!

This challenge blog is all about Lawn Fawn stamps and the theme this week is All About Snow. I decided to use Critters In The Snow (an obvious choice)

The stamped snowflakes are also from Critters In The Snow and for the sentiment I used Harold's ABC's. I just love that this set has so many letters, makes it so easy to create sentiments. The background is a combination of different distress inks.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the sweet comments left on my last post. The encouragement certainly means a lot.

Have a fabulous day.

It's Never Too Early...

... to make your Christmas cards!

During my daily blog stalking, I came across
this post from Amy where she talked about starting her Christmas cards early. Christmas 2010 was the first time I have made my own Christmas cards and to take the pressure off I decided to follow her example.

So... here is my first Christmas card for 2011!!

Amy also mentioned a new challenge blog called Jingle Belles - perfect timing! The challenge this week is to use 'something old, something new'. Believe it or not, the two stamps I used are new Hero Arts stamps that I just inked for the first time on this card! The something old is that little angel charm, which I have had for ages and just re-found the other day. The patterned paper is also old - the first patterned paper I ever bought - it's from SU.

There is also another new Christmas challenge blog I just discovered - Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge. The theme here is Anything Goes so I am entering this card there as well.

Have a great day!

Wishing You All A Happy 2011

Wow! I can't believe how fast these days are flying by. I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and I hope that 2011 brings you much joy and lots of crafting time.

I'm happy to be bringing you our first DT post of the New Year. Joy is having a break this week (poor girl has had to work over these holidays) so it's just Ange and me today :). Everyone will be back on board next week with a new challenge!

Ange has made another fabulous card using a new set from Practicing Creativity called 'Look Up Additions'. This set contains two more balloons, new sentiments and a new banner shape from the original. So fun!

For my card today I used Lawn Fawn's 'My Silly Valentine' set - I love the cute images and sentiments in this set.

I also added some beautiful gingham paper from A Muse - this is my favorite patterned paper, it is so versatile! The little heart was hand cut from felt. Also used was Spellbinders Label One die.

Bye for now.
