Ouch!

Hi there.

I have not posted this week as I had a wee crafting accident... and let's just say that the four letter word I used was not ouch! Warning: long story ahead, you may skip to the cards without offending me :)

I was having a go at the 'cracked glass' technique, but did not have any Utee so was using clear embossing powder instead. For those of you who may not know this technique you basically cover your piece (in this case a flower) in embossing powder, heat, which makes the powder sticky, dip it into your powder again and repeat the process several times. When the piece is cool you have a nice thick layer of gloss, you bend the piece and cracks appear. Anyway, I was on about my 5th layer and was heating the flower with my heat gun... I must have tipped the gun at the wrong angle and my flower flew off the table! Now if this has every happened to you before, you can probably guess what happened next. My lovely flower landed on my thigh... HOT, STICKY SIDE DOWN ON MY BARE THIGH!! Well, of course I jumped up trying to pull the stupid thing off (damn it was hot!) only to find it was stuck to the hairs of my leg. I finally managed to get it off, but was left with a sticky residue which I had to peel off (did you ever cover you hand with PVA glue as a kid, wait for it to set and then peel if off - it looked liked skin?) So, crafting abandoned, I retreated to the couch with an ice pack for the rest of the evening. LOL, it must have looked so funny!

Enough of my saga... let's see some cards.

Ange's card this week is so lovely. She has used the Hero Arts/Basic Grey set 'Sweet Threads Labels', and the little flower on the side is from Hero Arts/Basic Grey 'Luscious Patterned Flowers'. Great design and perfect bling placement - love it!

Joy sure does know how to create a cute card and her colouring is always so wonderful. The delightful image is from My Favorite Things - Pure Innocence. Love this little scene :)

I had fun making my card using Hero Arts/Basic Grey's set 'Life of the Party Birthday'. I actually used the cone from the smaller ice cream and coloured with copics. The chocolate sauce is covered in glossy accents - it does not show up in the photo. The background is another Hero Arts stamp, 'Music Background', which I stamped with Pumice Stone distress ink.

Thanks so much for stopping by today :)

OUCH indeed Judith, I have had hot glue on my finger before and that was painful enough but I bet that did make you hop being on your thigh!
Love the DT inspiration and the double scoop on your card :)

Eeeek! Sounds painful Judith!
DIY waxing is not a recommended technique for embossing powder, you know ;)

Glad to hear you survived your battle with the embossing powder! Fabulous DT cards, I especially love your striped icecream cone, looks awesome on the music background.

Oooo, ouchy-ouchy - I cringed as I read your little story. And of course, the flower would land hot-side down wouldn't it?!! Cardmaking can be such a dangerous occupation LOL! Just ask me about the time I used a paper piercer that slipped and went up underneath my fingernail a l-o-n-g way because I was pushing with some force through 3 layers of cardstock - I nearly passed out with the pain!

LOVE all these cards and really love your icecream card - the icecream looks good enough to eat - if only it was warm enough here in Melbourne to eat icecream...sigh... Thanks for visiting my blog and for your lovely comments - I really appreciate them :-)

Next time you want to wax your legs there are easier ways to go about it... :) Hope your leg has recovered and that this little incident doesn't put you off the cracked glass technique forever!
