Distress Ink Experimenting

Hello

Thank you to all those people that left comments on my last post, I really appreciate it (even if you weren't able to answer all my questions :))

I love using distress inks on my cards, but I have never really created a background with them. Aside from the sentiment stamp, (and card stock), everything else on this card is distress inks.

I printed a city scape out on my computer, cut out the negative and used it as a mask - using my blending tool and Black Soot I inked in the buildings. I then took the mask away and using a number of different inks, made the sunset. I deliberately let the black buildings smudge a little - I like the look.

It's good to play around with different products and techniques - I had fun!

Thanks for visiting.

Experimenting

Hello

Edited: A couple of people have asked me what stamp I have used here. It is from A Muse... sorry, I should have said that.

Did everyone have a lovely relaxing long weekend? Here in Australia we have one more day off to enjoy due to Anzac Day.

So I have been busy experimenting with different products and techniques. For the two cards below, I have used Perfect Pearls... I have not used it before and I have mixed feelings about it. I am only showing you these cards today in the hope that you might be able to offer some advice.

I stamped the image (ballerina) using a wet ink and then brushed the perfect pearls over the top. I then also mixed some perfect pearls with water and spritzed both cards - they have a lovely shimmer.

Ok, first off, how do I 'set' the perfect pearls so it does not come off - I did spray it lightly with water - is there anything else I should be using?

Also with this second card (because I have used a darker card stock I assume) there is too much perfect pearls around the image, which makes the sentiment appear smudgy - any recommendations on how to remove it without wiping off too much of the perfect pearls?

And lastly, any tips on how to photograph these cards so that the shimmer comes through?

Hoping someone out there has used this product and can help me :)

Have a great day.

Its Dawn!!!!

Congratulations ladies. Please email me and I will get your prize out to you.

Normally we would be starting a new challenge today, but we are going to have a break because of Easter and our next challenge will start next Sunday, 1st May.

We still have some DT cards to share with you today.

Joy has made a sweet-as-can-be Easter card using 'Warm Fuzzies' from Pure Innocence. The background was stamped with Hero Art's/Basic Grey 'Life of the Party Dots'. Isn't this card just adorable!

Ange has gone pure masculine with this monochromatic card. The image is from
Hero Art's 'Going'. The sentiment is a combination of two sets 'Huge Hugs and Life of the Party Cutouts' - both from Hero Arts. The gingham paper used on this gorgeous card is from A Muse.

I made my card for Lawnscaping Challenge #8 - Calling all Critters. I had my sixxiz boat die out and was inspired by the poem 'The Owl and the Pussycat'.

The owl is from Lawn Fawn's 'Critters in the Forest' and the cat is from A Muse. I used MFT Die-namics for the clouds and the waves (they make creating a scene so easy).

It's my daughters birthday today (scary that's she is already 19), so I am off to spend some time with her. Enjoy your day.

CASE Study Challenge #36

Happy Good Friday everyone!

I hope you all enjoy this long weekend and that you have time to spend with loved ones, have some fun and perhaps sneak in some crafty time.

It's been ages since I played along with CASE Study - I can't believe they are already up to challenge #36!

Here is the inspiration card from Silke.

My card is a bit of a loose interpretation, but when I saw that checkered paper from PTI, this card immediately jumped into my head. (don't ask me why!). I also stuck with red for my main image.

The boat is a sizzix die which I distressed and added some buttons to. The sentiment is a rub-on and the clouds are also from PTI.

Don't forget if you have some time today to enter our challenge - only 1 day left :) Click the link on the side bar.

Thanks so much for popping by today.

Heaven!

Hello everyone!

I am on holiday this week and it is heavenly... it has been an extra long term at school for us, so I have struggled.

Anyway, I had some time this morning to just sit and make a card. For the background I used a couple of Hero Arts sets (Birthday Sayings and Find Joy), stamped them with Versamark and then clear embossed. I really like this idea, but not sure the execution is as good as what was in my head :)

The dinosaur is a sizzix die-cut and the hill and grass I cut by hand. I thought I would enter this into Hero Arts' current challenge - Masculine projects.

Right, must dash. I need to go to the Post office and I still have lots of cleaning to do :(

Have a great day.

Its Ujjwal!!!!

Congratulations Ujjwal. Please email me and I will get your prize out to you.

Right, lets have a look at this weeks DT cards.

Ange is starting us off with this fun and colourful card. These images from
Hero Arts 'Life Of The Party Cutouts' are so much fun! And that cute little gingham heart is made with MFT 'Hearts A Plenty' die-namics.

With Easter just around the corner, Joy's card is perfect! This image from
MFT is so adorable and I love the patterned papers Joy has used. So cute!

If you have been following my blog for long you know I love Wee Memories Challenges, and this week is about "All Things Adorable". What is more adorable than Lawn Fawn stamps! On this card I have used the cute owl from 'Critters in the Forest' and made the sentiment using 'Harold's ABC's". The sentiment panel was cut using MFT 'Sweet Stack Label'. The branch the owl is sitting on is from A Muse - 'Bare branch with leaves'. The paper is Cosmo Cricket.

Remember you still have time to enter our challenge - the link can be found on the side bar. We would love to see your creations.

Thanks for stopping by today :)

Feeling Human?

Hi there!

How are you all? I am happy to report that I have progressed from completely miserable to almost human again! This new flu strain doing the rounds is a nasty one :(

Hopefully you are all finding plenty of time to be crafty... and if your looking for a challenge, you still have plenty of time to enter ours. Click the photo on the side bar and it will take you to the original post.

My lovely Design Team girls never fail to come up with some awesome eye candy to help those needing a little inspiration.

Ange has combined a number of different sets to make this fabulous card. The amazing background uses Practicing Creativity's 'For The Love Of Grids'. Her sentiment comes from 'Hello Friend' by Lawn Fawn and the paper pieced flower uses Hero Arts 'Layered Flowers' and A Muse gingham paper.

Joy has gone for super sweet this week with this adorable stamp from My Favorite Things 'Beach Bum'. She has teamed it up with Hero Arts 'Clouds Background' to create this fun little scene.

I have also combined a few different sets for my card today. I have used Lawn Fawns 'Critters In The Forest' and 'Petite Florals'. The sentiment is from Hero Arts 'Find Joy' and I added some Honeydew twine.

Well that's it for me today, but come back soon... I am nearly at 100 followers so I may just have to have a little giveaway when I reach it!

Have a wonderful day.

Design Team Post

Hello

Sorry I have been absent from the blog this past week, but I am sick at the moment and can't seem to shake it :(

Anyway, lets see what the girls have been up to.

Here is a super sweet baby card that Joy made using the new Lawn Fawn set 'Plus One'. Love all the glitter and those gorgeous pink buttons!

Joy

Ange has made a fun birthday card using the new Hero Arts / Basic Grey combo set called 'Life of the Party Cutouts'. And don't you just love that gingham paper... just can't get enough of this stuff!

I decided to use some of my Practicing Creativity stamps that have not seen ink for a while. The houndstooth pattern is from 'Retro Christmas Backgrounds' and I just stamped this with Versamark ink and then clear embossed. The central panel was done by dabbing various distress inks onto my clear stamp block and then spritzing with water. The sentiment from 'Everyday Prints' was also stamped with distress inks.

My husband likes the individual elements but does not believe the pink panel goes very well on the kraft card stock. Ummm... I may just agree with him.

Thanks for stopping by.
